Rules for crossing the Ukraine–Poland border

Passport control

1. To travel abroad, Ukrainian citizens must have one of the following documents:

  • a biometric passport or an old-format foreign passport.

If you have an old-format foreign passport, a Schengen visa is required.

Attention!!! At the time of crossing the border, the passport and visa must be valid.

2. Rules for traveling abroad with a child:

  • the child must have a biometric foreign passport;
  • a child who has reached 16 years of age may travel abroad independently with a biometric passport;
  • children under 16 may cross the state border of Ukraine only when accompanied by their parents and only with a biometric passport;
  • if a child travels with one parent or another person, a notarized consent for the child’s travel from the other parent is required.

3. Documents required for visa-free travel to EU countries:

  • a biometric foreign passport;
  • a return ticket;
  • proof of accommodation;
  • medical insurance;
  • proof of sufficient funds for the entire stay

For Poland, this amount is 100 zlotys per day.

Customs control

1. Money If the planned stay is up to 3 days, the passenger must have at least 300 zlotys. At the border, you may be asked to present funds. If you do not have cash and only a bank card, you must have a current bank statement with you. Regardless of age, without a written customs declaration, an individual may import and export cash equivalent to no more than 10,000 euros.

2. Medicines
Standard medicines (painkillers, antipyretics, cold remedies) may be transported.

3. Food products
Food products prohibited for import into Poland include:

  • milk and dairy products;
  • meat and meat products;
  • lard;
  • chocolate;
  • canned goods.

4. Alcohol Persons aged 17 and over may bring into Poland:

  • 1 liter of strong alcoholic beverages;
  • 2 liters of medium-strength beverages;
  • 40 cigarettes (two packs).
